Yes, and notice how he was treated when he died. Not one single US official (with the exception of President Nixon and Henry Kissinger) went to his funeral. And yet when King Hossein died (whom was not half the firend the Shah was to the US) all former presidents and President Clinton along with members of the US senate and congress went to his funeral. Incidently King Hossein was a good friend of the Shah (or at least he pretended that to be the case). The Shah used to invite him and his family to Iran at least 8 or 9 times a year for vacation by the Caspian sea, and he provided many financial aids to Jordon. And yet in 1979 right after the Shah left the country and Khomeini came to Iran from his exile, King Hossein was the first world leader to recognize Khomeini as the new leader of Iran (even thought the Shah's regime was still in power at the time and that so called Islamic revolution had not taken place yet)!!

Yes, Politics is dirty, and politicians sell their own mother if they see it fit their needs. It is truly sad.
