Valueman et al: Listened to Bernard S. deliver keynote address at ING Barings Furman
Selz satellite conference in NYC today. He was in great form, confident, and with a
good amount of humor. Quite a few whiny questions about the ability of GSTRF to
finance remaining $600 Million required this year to finish project. Bernie won't sell
equity to public
and believes there will be no need for service provider partners to pony
up additional funds. Plans to go back to high yield market whether in 4 weeks or 4
months and isn't concerned if the rate is 15-20%. He added that LOR could "write a
check" for $600MM tomorrow if need be. He pointed out with great alacrity the major
differences between *G* and *I*. He is very sensitive to his discouraged and
disappointed shareholders but clearly believes they will be well rewarded in the future. If
investors are too short term oriented or can't live with the current performance, they
shouldn't be in the stock. I left the meeting feeling very good about my investment in
LOR and GSTRF!! (QCOM too for that matter!!)
