I may be completely be off here but may I remind you and the rest of the guys of the situation that intc created with pc makers. The intent here will not be "for the good of all" but rather to control the market. If K^ (used to be K6 :-)) is the best value per $$$ and amd would be able to produce them in millions do you think intel would go through this trouble just to help amd to sell their K^s. What one way intel can maintain its monopoly margins while K^ and M@ would be substantially cheaper? And what is fast ethernet cards might be used for -- would not it be for fast communication lines both over the phone(ADSL) and LAN? Would not it reduce the demand for faster chips because of the new cheap network computers? Where are the monopoly margins when you can use your old 486 as a network computer? Where is the demand? Is not it the old intel strategy -- 1st make them dependant then create shortage and then buy intel chips or else. Am I so wrong in my reasoning?
