Well, here are a couple of ideas:

1. AMAT has had considerable relative strength in comparison to all other members of the sector, due to AMAT's history of gaining market share during downturns and also due to the investing public's preference for large cap stocks of late.

2. NVLS's secondary offering of a couple of weeks ago may have put a lid on the stock for a while.
