Robert, here is what I think what AOL's plan:

(1) partner with all possible local Bells, MCI, Sprint, lastly ATT
on DSL for the entire USA at a quick pace, this is good for
Bells and AOL
(2) seek the same DSL deals outside USA
(3) Once the majority of DSL deals are sealed, AOL is covered by
DSL broadband approach to all current and potential
members in all eligible part of the world.
(4) working on cable broadband deals at the same time but
not to be pushed or accept bad terms
(5) Based on (3), most people will have DSL as their
PC to Internet connection before the cable (2-way) can be
installed in their neighborhood, if I have a DSL already,
why should I switch to a less reliable CABLE modem?
Everytime the electricity is out, cable is out too but
not the phone line!!!!!!

(6) partner with satelite co. and all wireless co. for the
next generation of connection...
(7) 5-10 years...

(7) so, AOL will be in a very good position to defend
itself with DSL connections, I think CABLE co. will be
late in the market to capture the fast speed mania by
the time they have all their cables lay in the ground...
