iDSL uses the entire portion of the data frame for basic rate ISDN which provides 144Kbps. Data is transferred in a single pipe at this rate using RFC 1490. Basic Rate ISDN consists of 2 B channels plus the D channel for a total of 144Kbps also. However, data is usually only carried in the B channels. To get 128Kbps you need to set up two pipes on the two B channels and you have to use MultiLink PPP protocol (MLPPP) to multiplex the two channels together in order get one logical pipe of information. There is no clean way to multiplex in the remaining 16 Kbps D channel. So, Basic Rate ISDN maxes at 128Kbps and iDSL using RFC 1490 provides 144 Kbps. An ISDN basic rate frame consists of 8 bits of B channel 1, 8 bits of B channel 2, and 2 bits of D channel plus framing bits. The frames are sent at 8000 frames a second. If you use the entire frame as RFC 1490 allows then you can get 10 bits times 8000 frames a second or 144Kbps.
