Johnd, In Q4, they will have to preannounce if Office upgrades start "selling" anytime before June 1. Of course, I mean they have to tell analysts to raise their estimates.

Current quarter to me looks like at least 70/71 cents but I would bet higher (more like 74 cents) better than the consensus of 65cents. The increase in PIII sales probably was not factored in the guidance he gave---PIII computers generally ship with Office pre-loaded. Personally, i think the 400million deferal is underestimated--it will be higher again due to the Pentium III.
I agree Q4 should be about 85 - 90 cents, versus the consensus of 74 cents (if again Office gets out by June 1). No doubt about the June quarter blow out!!!

You have to remember the company wants to beat expectations by at least a nickel so they have to be conservative in the guidance. Last time they issued guidance late in the quarter, it was 6 cents below what they actually reported (56 vs estimate of 50 --i think).
I believe it was the June quarter.

I am more confident than ever. Tomorrow trading is going to be a lot of fun in my opinion!!!
