Some general comments on the conference call. National is disassociating the company from the PC market(good for Intel and AMD?). Smart move if you don't have products that command high/higher ASPs. LAN is dead except for the integration of PHYTER products into PCOAC. The rest of the business is healthy. Analog is doing well with Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung as customers for product. Even heard Qualcomm thrown in (for rechargers)? I think. Single chip Bluetooth is a winner. Single chip scanner has design wins at two of the top three scanner makers. Single chip DVD(Pantera) has ten design wins, two Japanese, two Chinese, three(?) Taiwanese, etc. They have the previously announced Win-terminal/STB wins(WYSE, HP, and more), with several customers signed up for PCOAC, when it ships. Capacity utilization increased to 64% and cash went up $38M.
Many big questions remain. They are going to ship Socket-370 products, but MXi WAS NOT MENTIONED ONCE. Several hundred wafers are beginning their journey through their 0.18 process, so full production is still a ways off. No partners for broadband solutions. PCOAC tapes out on the 23rd(?), but they plan production for June, which seems incredibly optimistic. Octal PHYTER not soon in coming.
I think the CFO is one of the most competent any company could ever hope to have. Projections are for $(0.16) to $(0.20) in the next quarter.
