Uggghhh, OK, pay attention...

In early april (roughly when options are issued) of 1989, Intel stock was trading at about $25. So, if your option strike price was $25 and the stock went through 3 2for1 splits you would have:

$25 strike
split # 1 = $12.50 strike
split # 2 = $6.25 strike
split # 3 = $3.13 strike

Now the strikes you see on the insider sales page are slightly different, but that's because the original strike depended on the day of issuance.

your explanation was working the math backwards from 1/15/99 market price - not the way it works.
