Rubber Technology International Announces Major Rubber Contracts

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1999--Rubber Technology International Inc. (OTC BB:RTEK) Thursday announced that the company has secured two major contracts for rubber product.

The first contract is for producing 6 million pounds of crumb rubber to be used in rubberized asphalt. The second contract is for molded products for a supplier of home and garden materials. Chips of ground tires are mixed with coloring and binding agents, then heat-pressed into strips for garden borders giving the appearance of pressed redwood chips.

These two contracts, along with pending contracts, and the company's ongoing production of delineator bases for traffic control devices and supply of crumb rubber to playgrounds and horse arenas, will represent full annual delivery capacity of the existing Los Angeles facility.

To meet these demands for the company's products, RTI has ordered additional equipment to significantly increase its production capacity to more than 15 million pounds per year.
