Toy, You are much to young to remember the DoJ v IBM case. DoJ had a very strong case against IBM. IBM had brilliant lawyers who drug the case out for many years. Such tactics as backing up semi truck trailer loads of documents, including cocktail napkins with scribbles, bogged the DoJ severely. MSFT could develop a settlement strategy to include agreement to desist some of the practices that DoJ is citing. MSFT must desist anyway, so why not agree. And, technology marches on causing many of these practices to be of no benefit anyway. Why should MSFT care if the IE icon is displayed or not? With OS integration, the icon is moot.
