Thanks Tom for your detailed reply. Am I correct in assuming that you have both Watley and Mbtrader because neither is completely reliable? Also, which do you prefer? I trade NYSE stocks primarily. Do you see these orders represented equally quickly?
Now I have another question for anyone else left here on Z thread: are there other online brokers who do not have a timeout for lack of activity? ( I have been trading my own account by phone with Regal Securities, and have been very happy with their responsiveness and executions (on NYSE). ) Yesterday, though, I attempted to make my first online trade in a different account that I control at Jack White. Since they were bought by Waterhouse, they have a new online system that just went live, and it evidently is implemented to timeout after 10 minutes. Very annoying. They also seem to have "improved" over their old system in that they no longer recognize 5 letter Naz stocks. Jack White also doesn't let you short stocks online, and they charge $12/trade, market or limit to 5000 shares. I don't see why anyone would want to trade there, but I'm adding this info per Ron's request.
Regal is beta-testing a new online system, which I'm told will be up and running soon, and will have no timeouts. I myself have only traded by phone with them.
