Hi Dr. John- I could be wrong, but I suspect that they (CC)have squized this stock about as much as they can.

If they are currently short, they need to cover their shorts- hence, if you buy the prefered, they will want you to cover their incremental cost of covering in the open market.

If they are not short, which I doubt, then you have something to negotiate about- but they will squize you for all they can. You would need to weigh the benefit against the effect of a possibly lengthy period of negotiation and closing.

My conclusion- I doubt that this is doable.
