the hydro dams are next to be eliminated.

Is physical removal of the dams being suggested? How long would it take for the river basins to revert to original state?

Presumably removal of the hydropower component will mean adding additional coal and gas-fired units, unless demand is decreasing. Is this an overall gain from an environmental and economic perspective?

What is the regional demand curve like? If hydro is the "next" to go, what is next after that?
