Exactly - the [OT]: stuff belongs in the clubhouse, that's why it's there.
Oh well, since I'm in the [OT]: mode I'll give you an update on where we're at.

I'm about 4/5 done changing out the monitors, then comes assembling and changing out several printers. Next I have to change out all the PCs but that can't be done until we can bring the new AS/400 online but we can't do that until we can get the J.D. Edwards software we run ported over to NT. In theory we paid for the source code but we found that they didn't give us all of it so we've got a "pile of files" that won't recompile. Once they finally figured out what we were talking about they said it would be about six months before they could look at it. We threatened to return the new server to IBM and sure enough they went to bat for us and now J.D. Edwards is saying "perhaps two months" but that still isn't acceptable. We've offered to fly to their facilities to recompile it on our own so they knew we weren't stealing the base source code but they weren't too open to that idea - at least not yet.

In the meantime we're still amassing quite a collection of retired equipment for your cause and a lot of it is quite impressive. Due to IRS laws we can't sell it and I know you guys can certainly use a lot of it. When faced with the option of giving it to someone that would melt it down for the gold or seeing it get a few more years of life serving the scientific research community the choice is obvious.
