From the Wacky side.........................

It was reported on the SGI thread that their was 105 million lines of code in Xfree86. I opened my mouth and said, no way. Someone politely said that is sounded reasonable to him. I said where do we go to recursively cat files to wc and count. He obliged with a pointer. I of course had to know the answer.

Lines of code ???? And the answer
is.....................

lines words characters
1144630 3958569 33079792

Now based on a small inspection of code, I guess
that up to 10 to maybe 15% of the lines counted are
blank or have only a single brace.

I did not see many comments.
This result was created by cating all files
determined by the file command to be C programs. The
files cated were only in the programs directory of
xc. Their are also lots and lots of font files and
such that were not counted.

I am humbly self corrected.
