Vman, no, all satellite CDMA isn't covered by Q! IPR. Just certain aspects. CDMA has been used in satellites for ages. Q! has their proprietary power control, rake receivers, soft handoff and will [I guess] use the MSM3000 in the initial handsets. The other space systems using CDMA won't have good power control, so probably have much less capacity. The quality is probably much worse too because they don't have the economies of scale which Q! has in the terrestrial networks which they can parlay into space.

Ecco and Ellipso won't be going up [in my opinion]. I doubt ICO will either even though it is owned by a bunch of governments which are notoriously indifferent to destruction of taxpayer capital. Iridium is struggling to survive. Oddysey cancelled didn't they? Globalstar has the only effective CDMA system for space with an exclusive agreement with Qualcomm, which owns a chunk of Globalstar. Qualcomm's CDMA system for space will be getting better rapidly.
