KHARTOUM, March 11 (AFP) - Oil extraction projected to start June 30

Sudanese First Vice President Ali Osmane Mohamed Taha has vowed that government troops would retake all areas held by rebels before June 30, press reports said Thursday.

"With the start of the oil exportation, we will score a decisive victory by liberating all positions and spreading peace and stability in all parts of Sudan," he said, referring to the projected June 30 start of oil extraction in Sudan's largest fields. ·

Some 100 wells at Hegleig in West Kordofan state are ready to produce 150,000 barrels a day. ·

Once on stream, crude will be pumped some 1,610 kilometers (1,000 miles) along Africa's longest oil pipeline to a new refinery at El-Obeid, in the north of the state and to Al-Jaili, 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the capital, and then to the Red Sea export terminal of Bachair, south of Port Sudan.
