Those are the type of questions that came to mind, although as I mentioned earlier, I'm not very familiar with the special stuff that has to be considered when evaluating a REIT-type security. I think they do invest in other types of obligations, I don't think they're a straight REIT -- or if they are, perhaps there's some healthy capital gains in the properties they do hold. Being HQd in Texas, there could have been several boom & bust cycles they could have taken advantage of. In any event, the security of the payout is a surface concern.
I'd be interested in any further info, if anyone here has done a little more investigation than me.
