El: O'Bull's posting was from Texas at 3.59 p.m. Assuming he made the posting shortly after he got the call, it would seem that IR had no change of instructions at the close of the working day. I would have thought that if a warning was coming today or Monday IR would have been instructed to stall. But who knows!

A warning now would be illogical given statements by CPQ, DELL, GTW, MSFT and by some of the "investigative" analysts like Dan Niles and Kumar, as well as the bits and pieces of anecdotal and "insider" information we have picked up on this thread. Some analysts have worried that there may be a slowdown and I don't recall any who have come right and said there will be. Maybe you do?

The Faber's of this world are journalists anxious not to miss out if there should be a story - in the absence of confirmation they position themselves on the fence and sway this way and that, as the rumour wind blows. Faber and co are penguins as much as the analysts they mock. The only difference in their reporting abilites and ours is that they have a staff to get the stuff off the news wires faster than we can.
