To All, Tidbits: 1. CNET is already calling the PIII Intel's Edsel. Gee, I thought everyone was chomping at the bit to buy Tweak III and that is why pc sales weren't happenin'? I guess the permabulls have to dream up another silly excuse.
2. Ads in The Houston Chronicle. On Fridays, The Chronic has a full section called "Technology," which often has large tech ads. Office Max and Circus City both have full page ads and both feature slightly different Packard-Bell boxes with Cyrix MII processors, monitors and, in the case of CC, a printer. One system is $799 and the other is $749. However, Gateway does have a full page ad flogging a PIII box with monitor for $1999. They mention $56 a month, which is probably the pertinent numbers for their customers.
No conclusions on these ads. Just the facts, Ma'am.
3. Penn lost in the opening round. I left for the track wearing my Penn t-shirt and with the Quakers holding an 11 point halftime lead. Oh, well, as a real school, the players may have been distracted by the thought of midterms coming up. Most basketball teams don't have that concern. <g> O.k., Stanford does and they won. A copout is a copout.
