Hi William - I'll grant the serious nature of the bleach, even just the possibility of it, but let's just step into other people's shoes for a moment, would you accept this public lynching simply b/c you were an easy target. The problem is that the name 'Wen Ho Lee' is now out in the public consciousness, but he has not even been charged. For those of us who have seen the terror of the infamous Unanerican Committee [ran by tailgun Joe and his chief henchman,] it is really deja vu all over again.
The question is: what does "err on the side of caution" mean? I ve brought put up 'Dr. Tsien Hsue-shen' several times before. He was instrumental for one of the 1st aerospace projects [Titan?] with top clearance. Then, he was striped of clearance. I don't know if there was any proof of infidelity. To make the long story short, he became a political merchandise and got sent back to China. Well, he became the father of the modern china missile programme [cf. see Ms Iris Chang "Thread of the Silkworm"] Let's think deeper and assume of his innocence for a moment, Dr. Tsien Hsue-shen could have contributed a whole lot more to the US space programme. Instead, not only the US lost a scientist of his caliber, the "Red Scare" politicans, in a backhanded manner, were instrumental in helping PRC to establish the missile programme.
