MIRAMAR, Fla., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovative Electronics, Inc., today announced that it has successfully completed the testing phase of its StoreComm2000 Windows NT based in-store application interface, customized for Belk Department Stores. Rollout of the new software interface is currently underway. The newly customized Windows NT StoreComm ISP application serves as a facilitator to allow the in-store processor to communicate with Belk's existing point-of-sale terminals. Implementation of the StoreComm ISP application interface enables Belk to hold on to their installed POS terminals, protecting their investment and saving them $millions.

Belk, Inc., a leading regional department store organization headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is installing the Windows NT based StoreComm2000 application interface in 110 store locations. Belk has been running Innovative's software solutions in their stores since 1984.

Innovative Electronics, Inc., a major supplier to the retail marketplace, provides an end-to-end solution that integrates point-of-sale, in-store and host applications in a distributed computing network. Innovative's state-of-the-art StoreComm System allows the retailer to run their store systems unattended, using UNIX or Windows NT as the operating system. Current application offerings include traditional POS functionality plus electronic journal, VICS compliant price look-up, layaway and gift certificate tracking.
