>There certainly are degrees of morality and immorality within the abortion debate. I think we probably will agree on most of them.<

Before we agree here we must separate from its circumstances the principle on which an abortion rests. We then must judge the principle to see if it is valid, reasonable, deserving acceptance as a useful part of human civilization. Should we deem it invalid we must reject it, thereby rejecting the entire abortion. I believe the principle upon which most abortions depend is invalid for any civilized people, and thus most abortions are invalid.

>It is then what to do about it that it get's problematic.<

Once we accept the principle of an abortion, then what to do becomes fairly a non-issue. Only when we reject the principle of an abortion do the circumstances become moot. I suggest that we first determine the validity of the principle first. I think reasonable people will see that the vast majority of abortions in this country are pure murderous barbarism. Then we should determine the circumstances where abortion use is valid.

Having determined which principles are acceptable and which are not, then we might fashion punitive measures for those who would force a barbaric principle upon the public. The purpose of these punitive measures are ultimately to discourage the crime and will, as with any judgement of an offense, be mitigated by circumstances particular to each abortion infraction. Depending upon the case, an abortion architect's penalty may range from a receipt of mercy all the way to life imprisonment or death.

I suggest you not try to eat the broad issue of abortion all at once. Reduce it first to its essential principle and begin to eat from there. While you will find a few barely acceptable morsels to consume, you will no doubt intensely vomit before you get to them.
