William - your patriotism is admirable, but you miss my point. I do not doubt you and others are willing to give the national agenda priority. My point is that there is no benefit whatsoever to loudly pronounce - if you are willing to assume the identity of the fall guy - 'William E Magner' is a sellout. The only utility I see is a political one. I mean, the other two guys who tried to buy the gyroscope were essentially caught redhanded, so it is a fair game. Sure, whether it is 'Wen Ho Lee,' 'William E Magner' or 'Bosco Ho', investigation should proceed if there is probable cause of suspicion. But trial by public opinion is not a proper vehicle.
Again, I don't doubt your idealism and faith in the american judicial system. I too am willing to repose my faith in it. But once your good name is dragged thru the muddy water, I am cynical to see a total restoration, no matter what kind of trumpet you are using. You got to understand the difference between a judicial system and a political system. Maybe you are willing to be a political scapegoat, I certainly will have nothing to do with it.
Regarding 'Dr. Tsien Hsue-shen' I hope your unfamiliarity is not a quick way to say you don't care - because as I ve pointed out, it wasn't simply a case of personal injury, for from both the utility perspective as well as the pride of a nation being fair and just, this is a case so dark that modern scandals pale by comparison.
