Otter: Good post, good points. Consolidation is well underway in the telecom industry, and there are fewer companies like VLSI available, with excellent fabrication capability and a low stock price. I noted a couple others of my favorites on the list: VTSS, a Galium Arsenide chip producer for telecom applications and test equipment, and TXCC, which produces equipment in support of Asynch Transfer Mode (ATM) for the WAN (and later LAN?) market. Both have projected growth rates about 40% annually, according to Yahoo research... I doubt those would be the attractive takeover candidates that VLSI was, but who knows? Thanks for the post.
