And then this ........

CK, EXPLAIN THIS, from Shell CHEEKY KID

<However, the API study found that embedded CHIPS do not pose a significant problem for the industries," Ron Quiggins, director, Year 2000 Program, Shell Services and chairman of the API Year 2000 Task Force, said in a statement. "We're not finding the embedded CHIP failures that we thought we had."

EASY

LOL - Ron Quiggins was my lunch partner at a Y2K Process Control conference in Houston March '98. Notice he used the words "embedded CHIPS" and not "embedded SYSTEMS". He's totally accurate with THAT statement.

He and I had a very interesting conversation about "embedded SYSTEMS" assessment, remediation, and testing on oil rigs. Particularly the North Sea rigs. There are numerous safety issues involved with testing and remediating while rig is operational. Best to do when a rig and pipeline are taken down. "Then you don't have to worry about safety. You only have to worry about money."

Cheryl

CHRISTINE: Thought you might find that last part interesting.
