It seems to me that this is in the vein of the trader vs. investor perspective debate. If you bought into WCII knowing that real returns could not reasonably be expected for 2-3 years, then the fluctuations in the price short-term are not necessarily enough to make you bail out. Robet is right to remind us that we should not become irrationally, emotionally attached to stocks to the extent that it makes objectivity impossible. But if you constantly re-examine the fundamentals and "the story" is still plausible, why keep jumping out and jumping back in? Yes, I am not happy that my Winstar shares are worth less than I paid for them, but I am quite sure that in time they will be worth much more. I'd also end up paying multiple commissions for the same set of shares. It sounds like you've given up on Winstar (at least, you announced your divorce) but I think most of us still think there are sound, objective, rational reasons to be optimistic.
