U.S. Justice Dept permits AOL to buy Netscape March 12, 1999 04:17 PM WASHINGTON, March 12 (Reuters) - The Justice Department on Friday permitted America Online AOL to acquire Netscape Communications Corp. NSCP and enter into a strategic alliance with Sun Microsystems Inc SUNW . "The division has decided that it will not challenge the transaction, having concluded that neither the merger nor the alliance violate the antitrust laws," said the Justice Department in a statement. The Microsoft Corp.
