I have some general questions for anyone on this thread. I'm trying to decide whether to invest some money in AMCC or VTSS. I understand that AMCC chips are made using silicon versus Gallium for VTSS. VTSS chips are supposedly faster to date using Galium. However, Gallium I understand is more expensive to work with as well as being a substance harder to come by than silicon, making the economies of scale impractical as silicon begins to catch up to VTSS speed. In other words, is the VTSS lead it currently maintains over AMCC doomed over the long haul or will silicon chips not ever be able to match speed with Galium chips. Any engineers out there that could give me the heads up on this?? Thanks!
