Planet Hollywood Announces Additional Location At Walt Disney World In Orlando With Its New Superstore

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Planet Hollywood (Nasdaq: PHII)
continues its global expansion with the opening of its eighth retail
SuperStore which will be located at Disney's MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The new stand-alone retail store will feature a variety of clothing and
merchandise bearing the internationally known Planet Hollywood brand name.
Planet Hollywood launched its first SuperStore in the Forum Shops,
Caesar's Palace upscale shopping center in Las Vegas. Since then, SuperStores
have opened in Chicago's Woodfield Mall, the Liat Towers shopping center in
Singapore; the famed Trocadero in London; as well as Berlin, Germany. Two
SuperStores have opened in airports including Gatwick Airport in England and
Singapore's Changi Airport. Other locations opening in 1997 include Tumon,
Guam, and Houston, Texas.
The SuperStores are located primarily in three distinct markets which are
characterized principally by: high tourism; a combination of tourism and
local customers; and areas dominated by local customers. Planet Hollywood is
using the three distinct markets to test its SuperStores to determine the
course of action and locations for continued expansion of the stand-alone
retail stores.
Planet Hollywood SuperStores feature a line of clothing for infants and
kids including baby sleepers, bibs, jackets and toys. There are three
different apparel lines for adults: Classic, Contemporary and Sporty. The
Classic line features polo shirts, hats, corduroy barn jackets, canvas leather
bags, brief cases and much more. The Contemporary and Sporty lines include
Henleys, sweatshirts, baseball jerseys, Converse sneakers and sports bags.
The houseware line of products includes glassware, cookie jars, shot glasses,
plastic tumblers, among dozens of other items to furnish the home.
In addition, each SuperStore features a "Celebrity Edition" line of
merchandise with artwork designed by Planet Hollywood shareholders Arnold
Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. The
"Celebrity Edition" merchandise includes clocks, notepads, mugs, journals and
pens. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the "Celebrity Edition" line will
benefit the stars' favorite charities.
In keeping with the cutting edge of brand marketing, the SuperStores not
only offer a wide variety of Planet Hollywood merchandise, but also feature a
line of Movie Studio merchandise devoted to the latest film releases.
Designed to further enhance the "movie experience" by promoting the latest
films, the Movie Studio launched its line of merchandise with "Space Jam" and
"101 Dalmatians" and is now selling products from "Star Wars" and "The Lost
World: Jurassic Park II." The Movie Studio line includes t-shirts, baseball
hats, keychains, mugs and pins.
Planet Hollywood is a creator and worldwide developer of consumer brands,
most notably Planet Hollywood, that capitalize on the universal appeal of
movies, sports and other entertainment-based themes. To date, the Company has
promoted its brands primarily through the operation of theme restaurants,
which provide a unique dining and entertainment experience in a high-energy
environment, and their integral retail stores. In addition to Planet
Hollywood, the Company has created and is continuing to develop such consumer
brand concepts as Official All Star Cafe, a sports-themed restaurant-
merchandise store, and Marvel Mania, a comic book-themed restaurant-
merchandise store.
