HP steams ahead on Java See news.com for today's news about HP and "Mauve" which is designed to break Java free from SUNW's proprietary grasp. Good for Java, but once again raises the question of how is Java going to materially contribute to SUNW's bottom line? AT&T invented C and UNIX and it hardly rated a footnote on T's balance sheet. Looks like the same will be said of SUNW and Java in future years. Without control of Java, SUNW is just another commodity provider of computing cycles as far as telecosm analysis goes, no?
