We've disagreed on a lot of things before, but I'll agree with you here. No external influence will ever move China closer to democracy and respect for human rights. Internal demands will, and as the prosperity of individual Chinese increases, those demands will get stronger and stronger.

Excommunicating China will only slow that process down.
