larry, I think Mr. Dell greatly underestimated the markets reaction to a slight sales miss when he knew his EPS were going to make it. I expect he will not make the same mistake again. Unfortunately its a mistake that may take a year or so before the DELL faithful put it behind them.

I also firmly believe that this is the exact reason why MSFT made this announcement, even though they probably could have covered it up in their Q results. They did not want ANY confusion in the market when they report their results. On the upside, I think it makes it easier for them to report a positive surprise.

I think the PC segment is at its worse moment in the quarterly cycle (trading wise) and that things should start to improve. I bought CPQ today for many reasons, reasons that relate to their business outside of their ability to sell PCs. Even if they preannounce, I think CPQ at 30 is a bargain.

MSFT will roar into their split. History is on our side. I also think they have the next two weeks orchestrated to support this positive momentum. They did not make the announcement yesterday in a vacuum. This action is scripted carefully.
