Philippians 3

9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:..

Acts 11

26 "..... And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Who is a Christian? Many people identify with Christianity merely by heritage (attended church as a child with parents) were baptized as an infant, were married in a Christian ceremony etc.

Some ministers refer to the "hatch em, match em, dispatch em" syndrome which being interpreted is the description of how often some people are seen in church in a lifetime. Namely at birth (dedication), when they get married, and at their funeral.

There is a distinct difference between professing Christ and possessing Christ.

Even currency professes "In God We Trust" and it is no more Christian than the person that claims they are Christian merely because they attend a church. This is professing Christ.

Possessing Christ is to belong to Him, it is to have put on the righteousness of Christ, it is to be able to claim Him as Lord and Saviour. It is to be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
