Norden,

Have you seen any statistics on penetration of broadband Internet access in the home? Either in "homes passed" or in actual use? I keep looking but the only stuff I have seen is about a year old.

I posted an article on the Yahoo thread the other day saying that Forrester is predicting a broadband glut (!) starting about a year out (!). Don't know that I agree with that but it's certainly food for thought. Seems to me that 10 years ago we would have found it inconceivable that we'd ever find a use for 500 Mhz PCs with 64MB of memory 10 GB of disk space, but golly gee whiz, demand expanded to fill capacity.

I suppose there's a theoretical limit of some sort on how much broadband capacity can be used, given that people won't watch interactive TV more than a certain number of hours a day, that there are a finite number of people, and that once you're serving customized video to each of them, you run out of need for more broadband (at least for this application, which would seem to be the most bandwidth-intensive). I guess Forrester thinks we'll reach the point where capacity growth will be ahead of the adoption curve within the next year or so.
