You seem to demean it. Ever see a flock of birds? Looks complex, right? I can model a flock of birds on a computer and have them flying with only 3 rules. Simple. Others have tried to complexify the issue. The result? Birds banging into each other and dissolution of the flock. Simple rules yield complex results. The rules: Maintain a minimum distance from other birds Fly toward the perceived center of the flock Avoid contact with other objects It's a program called Boids...you can download it if you'd like at any artificial life site.
