Street,

I'm not "too damn trusting". But I just know when not to force a confrontation that may cost me my life or liberty.

There are some things that are just not worth it, and telling the cops or authorities that they'll have to pry my dead figures from my weapon before they can have just doesn't seem to be worth it to me.

Face it, if there is a major disruption that requires the institution of martial law, the troops and police authorities are going to be VERY defensive about protecting their people from any wackos out there planning on taking a potshot at them.

And since it is EXTREMELY difficult to immediately discern who is friend or foe, combined with the human factor of incompetent or overbearing leaders who might abuse their authority, a certain amount of patience may be required.

Personally, if you don't make yourself noticable by packing heat everywhere you go, I doubt you'll have many problems. The folks who have to worry are those who have displayed some measure of hostility in the past towards govt and are deemed "potential" threats.

Finally, it might be wise to remember that the individuals called up to deal with a martial law situation have families as well. They don't exist in a vacuum ignorant of the concept of what civil rights we're entitled to or find desirable. They just want to do their job, maintain order, and eventually get back to normal just like everyone else.

If there are abuses, take notes, get names and depositions and sort it all out later when things have calmed down.

Maybe I'm being naieve, but rather than worrying about something that hasn't happened yet, I would rather deal with the situation when it arises in a measured and rational manner.

Regards,

Ron
