Good analysis

The question is where does Windows CE fit in? I agree it is shrewd to offer up a dead-ended Win98 as a "concession" in any court-ordered settlement. In a "worst case" scenario MSFT could open-source Win98 and keep WinCE and Win2000 as the crown jewels. The PC market of 2005 will be radically different than what exists today and that is the market that MSFT will position itself for.
