Microsoft and Nortel to collaborate on Internet telephony (VOIP)

Hi Jean-Robert,

A CP story today says that the above will be announced in a news conference on Monday in San Jose. According to the article, if this technology is successful, it is expected to have two major side effects:

1) long distance rates will plummet
2) features we now pay extra for, such as call waiting, will drop like a stone.

If call waiting becomes very cheap, it's reasonable to assume that many subscribers will want to upgrade their equipment. As we know from the company, Aastra is the price leader in caller-id telephones and caller-id adjuncts so this may boost sales even beyond the company's current forecasts.
