Re: "ACC is a better conference. The fact that the SEC can't field a team that can even compete with Duke is testimony to its mediocrity."

For the sake of your sanity, I hope Duke wins it all this year. I don't claim to be an expert on basketball, but I do know this: Wayne Turner, 40 years from now, can take his grandkids into Rupp Arena and point to three banners in the rafters. One says "National Champion 1996," one says "National Champion Runner-up, 1997," and the third says "National Champion, 1998." He can tell his grandkids: "I helped put those banners in the house that Rupp built." I don't believe any boy who straps on a jock in the ACC can claim similar.

I also wouldn't count any chickens before they're hatched. Be aware that despite being the best team in the nation in the regular season (as Duke was last year), on any given Saturday the roof could fall in. (Think back 51 weeks ago.) If I were a Duke athletic supporter, I'd be a little concerned about a potential meeting down the road with the likes of a hot St. John's, Auburn, Cincinnati.

In other words, I'd wait for the sun to come up before I started crowing.

As an aside to my Bluegrass Buddies, did anyone see the Scott County-Henderson County Sweet 16 semifinal game today? Understand that the refs really shafted Henderson County late in regulation and in OT.
