Dan - Why would you expect to find any Genesis chips in an SGI ? They're digitally fed by Nine's video card at one resolution, ie no resolution scaling performed by the display panel. The cable from the card to the display looks like a SCSI thing with 36 pins instead of the usual 15 pin video connection found on most monitors. The only components on the card are the #9R4 chip, 32MB of IBM display memory, and an IBM RamDac, not much else.

It looks like Genesis has most of the market now, at least for the traditional non-digital side. The #9 + SGI combination is unique for now, except for direct use on an SGI box. As SGI will be .002% of the display market this year (heard <10000 units) you're in the majority now !
