Daniel, I am interested. As I have said earlier, ideally, everyone would agree that property rights and the right of contract should be respected in most circumstances, and political discussion would be confined to the borderline cases, where it might make sense to interfere with these rights. MeDroogies himself brought up an excellent example in the civil rights laws, such as when public accommodations (such as hotels and restaurants) are forbidden to discriminate on the basis of race. Without such intervention by the Federal Government, who knows when, or even if ever, an invidious system of racial domination would have been altered. It is at least arguable that it was worth it to impinge upon property rights in that instance.
