Rob: I really enjoy both your posts and Peep's as well. But I wanted to say two things concerning the current debate of people's motives. I figure I can comment, since I have taken issue with the apparent motives of realmoney and others.

First, I think Peepster's totally legit. I have chatted on the phone with her quite a bit recently even though she is in PA and I am in CA. At no time have I sensed some alterior motive other than doing the research on a company and trying to profit from the stock rising in value because it is undervalued or because there is some new news about to break. She is not a short player. Of course, you have no reason to believe me since I could be in cahoots with her, (if you listen to realmoney I am really Ken Bell!!!)

I guess my point is that we are all responsible for doing our own DD. It's good to listen to the viewpoints of others, but in the end it's important to use our own judgement before investing. My issues with realmoney are the legalities of his tactics, not whether he is long or short. The most effective mechanism in my mind is to just ignore people whose opinions you don't respect. That strategy has vastly improved the worth I get out of the BB's.

So I guess I am less worried about the newbie investor getting burned. I am more concerned about me reaching my investment goals. I am learning who adds value and who doesn't. It disturbs me when I see clear attempts at stock manipulation, and I will report those I think are guilty of that. However, I am going to try and concentrate less on someone's apparent motives and more on the actual facts of the investment decision. It should keep me more focused at least.

Sorry for the ramblings, but just wanted to put my thoughts out there.
