Dear Nancy,
I have very strong ties to the Baptist for their love for the Jews and boldness to witness to them in love. I pray you will have peace in this.
I reprinted here what you said, not to raise any objections, but just to wonder.
I wonder when we will actually put on this verse: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
I wonder when we will stop saying: I am of (insert your favorite denominational name here) or I am of (same here)as some were doing before(1 Cor. 1:12), and simply say: (1 Cor. 1:)30 It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
I wonder if it will ever be known of us?:Acts 11:26 The disciples were called Christians first at( Antioch) . (or insert your town here)
You know why I wonder that? Because due to our pride, we seem to need to hang a "handle" on everything. Many have asked me before where I "go to church" . I pray that God let me continue to say that I do not "go to church" that by the blood of the Lamb, the Lion of Judah, I am the church. As any who name the name of Jesus are Christian and just that. Maybe that is why some will not say what "denomination' they "belong" to, because in Christ we have received One Spirit.
Maybe some of the old "religeousisms" will disappear when we yank down our old exclusionary(is that a word?) signs and simply say on them, "Here a bunch of Christians meet" or "Here the church meets"
What do you think?
And last of all I wonder why I cannot spell simply? I had to ask my wife and change it both times here!! :o)
