DP clause of the 14th Amt ---- > the CT subscribes to a narrow reading of this. DP is simply a procedural right, a right to a fair procedure (5th Amendment) and that's all. DP process is not a substantial right, therefore it can't be used to strike down a law against Free Speech because that is a sub reading of that clause.

a) Substantial ------- > If a law is directed to telling you how you have to live your life then that is a sub issue. NOTE: the CT at this time thought that sub issues are not covered by the DP clause.

b) Procedural ---- > The law that is created is valid, and you are accused of violating that law, and at trial you are not allowed to cross examine a witness, that is procedural and the DP clause at this time protects you.
