Buying a stock with the intention to second guess management would be foolish indeed. However, I think one of the best uses of SI is to exchange information and opinions about management moves. I doubt my opinions, pro or con, about any stock will affect the stock price (unless I've chanced upon material non-public information). What the posting does do is to allow debate which may clarify issues. If I say, for example, that company XYZ seems headed in the wrong direction, other can disagree and point out why I am mistaken, or can add new questions to what we should explore in evaluating whether this is true. I appreciate honest debate. What I don't appreciate is die-hard fans of a stock engaging in abuse when questions are raised. I tell people who work for me--I must know the bad and the good in order to make proper decisions. I guess not all of my fellow SI posters see things that way.
