Skeets, I don't think oil producing countries will have any serious Y2K problems. They tend to not be computerized that heavily. I think the Y2K problems will be concentrated in Europe, tech Asia, and the US. I haven't got a source for S&P earnings.

As far as IDC goes, I just read their predictions and laugh most of the time and don't keep a record. Earlie may. I also confuse their numbers with Dataquest in my mind as neither is any good. I know they predicted 17% revenue growth for pcs last year and it came in negative. The year before, I seem to remember 19% and it came in at +6%. Beyond that, I just remember the words "lousy prediction," and I was paying more attention to SIA's long history of lousy predictions for chips.
