There is another difference between Wallmart and Nordstrom besides service, that is the quality of the merchandise. You make some good points about buy.com and I don't want to get into this with the bears again - but fwiw this statement about quality is untrue. There is a whole class of products - jewelery, cosmetics, etc. where Nordstrom and walmart sell the exact same thing. The difference is the delivery (meaning, experience of purchase not physical delivery). For the products like Nordstrom clothing that aren't offered by Walmart there are still other retailers such as Macy's that sell those things - using your analogy why would anyone go to Nordstroms when you can generally buy the same thing at Macy's for less. (you really can - Macy's has more specials).
