But if the software becomes popular, it might discourage Internet advertisers and threaten what is now the biggest source of revenue for the Web. For now, on-line consumers are willing to accept annoying ads as a tradeoff for free surfing, but when this blocking technology becomes widely available, will that still be the case? I installed AtGuard atguard.com a few weeks ago. Easy setup, no problems, great software. It's even better than a TV mute button because it eliminates video as well as audio. I have a decent high-speed connection, so the main consideration for me was not transmission speed, it was to eliminate tacky clutter and gain back some control of what I view. WT
